Una vicenda dai contorni poco chiari.
Un’auto del Vaticano è stata fermata a un controllo di dogana in Francia.
A bordo del veicolo sono stati trovati 4 chili di cocaina e 150 grammi di cannabis.
Due gli italiani arrestati.
Non si conoscono le generalità dei due uomini, ma il Vaticano interpellato dall’agenzia francese I.
Media ha assicurato che nessun dipendente o membro della Santa Sede è stato direttamente coinvolto nella vicenda.
Il Vaticano ha quindi confermato la notizia dell’arresto dei due italiani alla dogana francese.
I due erano a bordo dell’auto appartenente al cardinale argentino Jorge Mejia, ex archivista e bibliotecario della Santa Chiesa di Roma.

Il cardinale Mejia, 91 anni, è in convalescenza dopo un infarto (Papa Francesco due giorni dopo la sua elezione lo andò a visitare in una clinica romana).
Secondo la versione di una radio francese sarebbe stato il segretario di monsignor Mejia a prestare l’auto ai due italiani affinché provvedessero a fare il tagliando.
I due ne hanno approfittato andando in Spagna, comprando la droga e pensando di farla franca grazie all’immatricolazione diplomatica.
Al momento sono in stato di fermo nei pressi di Lione.
Sulla vicenda è intervenuto anche il portavoce Vaticano, padre Federico Lombardi che ha spiegato: «L’auto del cardinale Mejia con a bordo della droga è stata effettivamente bloccata dalla polizia francese ma il cardinale, che sta male, è totalmente estraneo».
Lombardi ha inoltre spiegato che il segretario di Mejia nei giorni scorsi aveva consegnato l’auto ad un carrozziere per fare delle riparazioni. «L’auto è stata consegnata nei giorni scorsi ad una autofficina – ha detto il portavoce vaticano -. Evidentemente ne è stato fatto un altro uso».
